Badwater Salt Flats

Badwater Salt Flats

At an elevation of 282 feet below sea level, the Badwater Salt Flats are the lowest point in North America and one of the lowest in the world. Due to the intense heating and cooling cycles of the valley floor, the vast salt field gradually breaks up into polygon shaped segments until it is smoothed back out by a rarely occurring heavy rainstorm.
