In April of 2019 a friend and I completed a 7-day backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon. We started at the New Hance Trailhead, spent a couple nights camping along the Colorado River near the New Hance Rapids, and then headed west along the Tonto Trail until we eventually exited at the Bright Angel Trailhead. Along the way we explored numerous side canyons and made a quick trip down to Phantom Ranch for lunch on our last full day in the canyon. Altogether this trip amounted to nearly 68 miles of backpacking with approximately 13,000 feet of elevation gain.
