Built in the 1920's, this cabin served as temporary quarters for ranch hands working on the 67,000 acre Guadalupe Mountains Ranch which was owned by Judge J. C. Hunter. In 1966 the Hunter family sold the ranch to the National Park Service and it eventually became a major portion of the park.
